Brief: An upcoming horror movie is in need of a movie poster for advertising.
Challenge: Produce an eye-catching movie poster that immediately creates interest and shows that it is a must-see horror film that features a cross between the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox and the horror genre.
Solution: With the poster needing to display a strong contrast to the family movie Fantastic Mr. Fox, the focal point of the poster is the coloured fox head, drawing the viewer in due to its juxtaposition against the black and white background. The mask creates a mystery with the viewer, enticing them to see the movie to see who, or what is behind the mask.
Brief: Design a summer label for Granville Island Brewing.
Challenge: Create an appealing, colourful label for Vancouver’s Pride.
Solution: Inspired by Vancouver’s Sunset Beach and Pride, I wanted to use colours that were reminiscent of the beautiful summer sunsets, as well as the familiar rainbow colours associated with pride. The colours are vibrant, but not fully saturated, as they create a glowing contrast to the black background.
Brief: A new high-end cocktail bar is opening downtown and is in need of a menu and logo design.
Challenge: Appeal to a crowd who enjoys high-end cocktails and food, this new cocktail bar needs a menu and logo that gives off an upbeat, classy-chic vibe.
Solution: This menu and logo show a modern flair while paying homage to the art deco era. The logo is simple yet bold enough to make a memorable first impression and the menu showcases the fine craft of cocktails and food served at this establishment with the use of script and sans serif fonts.
